Photography contest for the Upper Delaware River region

REGION — The Delaware Highlands Conservancy will hold its seventh annual juried photo contest for the Upper Delaware River region, open to professional and amateur photographers. Titled “Confluence: Land, Water, Wildlife,” the contest asks photographers to capture striking nature photos in five categories: landscape, wildlife, macro, water and the Van Scott Nature Reserve. There is also a youth category for photographers under age 18. Without disturbing or harming any creature or its habitat, photographers are encouraged to be creative in showcasing the diverse wildlife, plants and special places of our region.

Photos will be judged on creativity, originality, composition, clarity and quality as well as impact, and must be taken in the Upper Delaware River region to be eligible. Photos can be taken during any season.

Photographers can submit entries from Thursday, August 1 to Saturday, August 31; for details, see below.

The winning photos will be chosen by a panel of judges, along with one People’s Choice, and the photos will be hung at the ARTery Gallery in Milford, PA, in November. The judges in the contest are Mary Sue Sweeney Price, Nancy Kiesendahl Bloch, Marie Liu and Alessandra Maria Iavarone.

Photographers are asked to submit no more than two photos. Entrants must agree to the official rules and pay a $15 entry fee to be eligible; there is no charge for youth entries.

Visit www.delawarehighlands.org/photo-contest/ for details, to download the official rules and to submit an entry.
