‘PeepHole’ extended at Union Digital Gallery

NARROWSBURG, NY— Sandy Long’s exhibition, titled “PeepHole: Playing with Perception,” has been extended through Wednesday, November 22 at the Union Digital Gallery.

The exhibit, which features the work of Long, a photographer, writer and River Reporter columnist, is a provocative examination of “reality” through image, word and sound in a multisensory digital exhibit presented on a 16-foot HD media wall.

“Peepholes are small circular openings for seeing through to the other side of something,” said Long. “The images revealed are often distorted and sometimes abstract due to the nature of the viewing device and one’s perception of the image.

“A lens is a peephole; the eyes are peepholes; our senses are personal passageways for interpretation of perceptual experience,” she added.

“There will be a way through, but what lies on the other side—if indeed there is one—will not be revealed until we arrive. How will we know what is real? Can we trust what we perceive?”

“PeepHole” can be viewed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free and open to the public.

The Union Digital Gallery will also host several pop-ups this month of Long’s 2021 show, “Impermanence,” a collage of images, poetry and music.

“There is an unsettling and yet compelling quality to expressions of impermanence,” Long wrote at the time. “We are born into physical bodies through which existence is experienced. Form eventually fades, whether tree or human, building or bridge, feather or fur. In the inevitable decline and ultimate relinquishing lie both desolation and beauty.”

The exhibit also features the music of Marlaina Donato.

The gallery is located at 7 Erie Ave.
