HAWLEY, PA — The Wayne County Historical Society (WCHS) honored Paula S. Roos with the Richard L. Kreitner Award for Community Service at its annual dinner on November 5 at Lukan’s Farm Resort.
Roos has held leadership roles in many local history projects. She was the president of WCHS during the moving of the Torrey Land Office from the Wayne Memorial Hospital parking area to 812 Main St. in 1981. In the 1990s, she helped plan the building of the addition that houses the Stourbridge Lion replica, and most recently she organized the Gen. Lyman L. Lemnitzer Memorial at the main museum.
Roos has also contributed her time and talents to the community by volunteering with many other organizations, including the Honesdale Women’s Club, Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Easter Seals, the Pocono Girl Scout Council, WVIA-TV Station’s Live Auction and many others.
With each organization, stated the WCHS, she has left her unique stamp on projects that have enriched the community and made it better.
