Paula Kay is one of us

I am Joyce Salimeno-Gitlin and I want to tell you why I am voting this November for Paula Kay to be our next Assemblymember representing us in the 100th Assembly District in Albany. Our friend, Aileen Gunther, will be stepping down and has endorsed Paula to take her place.

I was born in Sullivan County at the Callicoon Hospital. I previously lived in Middletown, and have resided in Sullivan County for 60 years and currently reside in the Town of Mamakating, where I have lived for 52 years. During that time, I served on many boards in Sullivan County and I care deeply about the future of our county.

I am not a politician. I simply care about the future of where we live.

I support Paula because she is one of us. She is not a politician who just showed up in Sullivan County to get your vote. She is one of us.

As my neighbor, Paula’s contributions to the community are many. She works with the SPCA to ensure the care of animals. She not only has been the Rock Hill Fire District’s attorney but helped them to build their children’s playground. Her father, Marty, was also proudly a member of the Rock Hill Fire Department. She served as the attorney for other fire departments, such as Wurtsboro and Neversink. She helped with coat drives for the children of Monticello. She helped lobby for the new tennis courts in the Monticello School District.

Together with her husband Jonathan, who was once our county manager and a member of the team that built Bethel Woods (though he is probably prouder of being a Monticello Little League coach), Paula has always found ways to help the residents of Sullivan County. I worked with her on helping to beautify our county. She worked with Assemblymember Jake Gunther on the Adopt An Exit program on Route 17. Together with Bonnie Smith, they worked tirelessly to beautify Rock Hill.

I could list many other examples but my point is that she doesn’t just live in Rock Hill and Sullivan County, she has been a part of who we are since she moved here almost 30 years ago. She is one of us.

So this November, spread the word that one of us is running for the NYS Assembly.
