Free train rides for first responders and other everyday heroes

SCRANTON, PA — The Iron Horse Society has announced the "Not All Heroes Wear Capes" campaign, a tribute to the everyday heroes among us. In recognition of their selfless service, free train rides are being offered to first responders, teachers, active military personnel, nurses, and medical professionals on the North Pole Limited this Friday, December 22nd.

"For many years, the North Pole Limited has been a source of joy and wonder during the holiday season," said Mike Rinkunas, a member of the Iron Horse Society Board of Directors. "This year, we want to extend our gratitude to those who have tirelessly worked to improve the welfare of our community. Our 'Not All Heroes Wear Capes' offer is a small gesture to honor their immense contributions."

This special offer is open to all first responders, teachers, military personnel, nurses and medical professionals who present a valid ID. It’s a chance for these heroes to join family and friends on the North Pole Limited and enjoy an hour-long magical journey aboard a vintage train pulled by a steam locomotive featuring on-board festive decorations, holiday music, and a special visit from Santa Claus himself.

"Our community heroes have shown extraordinary bravery, dedication, and compassion," added Rinkunas. "Whether it's saving lives, educating future generations, protecting our nation, or caring for the sick, their actions inspire us all. We are thrilled to welcome them aboard the North Pole Limited for a well-deserved celebration in their honor."

Participants are encouraged to reserve their tickets in advance due to limited seating. Reservations can be made through the North Pole Limited's website at www.theironhorsesociety.com/santa. This train ride promises a memorable experience filled with the spirit of the holiday season, allowing these community heroes to relax, unwind, and be appreciated for all that they do. Trains depart from Steamtown National Historic Site at 10:00 am, 11:45 am, 1:45 pm, and 3:15 pm rain or shine.
