HONESDALE, PA — On June 20, during the DAR chapter luncheon meeting, the Wayne Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) inducted a new member, Bette Eagan.
She was inducted by former regent Barbara Braton Gropper and chaplain Eloise Fasshauer.
Aiden LaTourette, a senior from Wayne Highlands High School, was the winner of the Dorothy Noble High School Scholarship. He was presented with a check by Lourdes Brown, scholarship chair. Aiden is in the honors program and plans to pursue a degree in engineering at Lehigh University.
The DAR Youth Citizenship Award is given to an eighth-grade student who exhibited the qualities of honor, service, courage, leadership and patriotism. This award is one of the most prestigious awards given by the DAR nationwide.
A certificate and pin were presented to the following students at the end of their of the school year

Dingmans Delaware Middle School: Vanessa Knapp
Preston Area School: Abbey Stiles
Wallenpaupack Area Middle School: Max Edwards
Wayne Highlands Middle School: Mia Wolfe
Western Wayne Middle School: Madelyn Mc Clure
The Daughters of the American Revolution is a service organization of women whose ancestors served or participated in the American Revolution.
The objectives of the DAR are to promote, cherish and maintain America’s freedom and patriotic awareness through historical preservation, education and patriotism.
