LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY — New Hope Community (NHC) was recognized for its work on a March episode of “Viewpoint.”
The show, hosted by actor Dennis Quaid, highlights organizations and individuals across the nation and discusses informational and educational topics.
The episode, titled “Improving Communities through Care and Compassion,” began airing in March.
The segment on NHC focused on its approach to empowering people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and will be broadcast on public television stations in all 50 states for a full year.
NHC has created several programs that continue to help its clients and the overall community:
Hope Farm, a three-acre plot where residents each year assist with the cultivation of 12,000 pounds of fresh produce from more than 55 different crops
Stables at McCoy Meadow horse barn, NHC’s on-site hub for equine therapy
Andrew’s Garden, a 1.5-acre sensory exploration garden, is curated to provide tranquility and serenity to the people served by New Hope Community, its employees and the extended New Hope family
The annual community outreach dinner, a holiday initiative that provides hundreds of free hot meals to families in need
“We are honored to have this opportunity to share our story, our mission, and our impact on a national stage,” said Debra McGinness, New Hope CEO. “The finished piece features several members of our community demonstrating their talents, independence and growth.”
