CALLICOON, NY — The opening reception for “Nature’s Symphony” is a marriage of art and music, and the public is invited. The event takes place from 12 noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 22 at the Delaware Free Branch of the Western Sullivan Public Library.
“We’re so happy to bring together the visual beauty of plein air painting and the delightful sounds of Gary Cormier’s live instrumental music,” said event coordinator Ciera Moore.
At a community painting party in Callicoon on May 4, artists from around the region captured the charm of the hamlet: paintings from and of the bridge to Damascus, as well as artwork featuring Callicoon’s historic buildings, silos and streetscapes.
To complement the art on display, acclaimed musician Gary Cormier will provide live musical entertainment throughout the evening.
Guests can meet the artists and learn about their creative processes, and enjoy complimentary refreshments.
The project is sponsored by the Western Sullivan Public Library and the Barryville Area Arts Association, and is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant Program, a program of the NYS Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the NY State Legislature and administered by the Delaware Valley Arts Association.
