Money available for environmental education projects

HARRISBURG, PA — The PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is accepting applications for environmental education projects, with nearly $1 million in grants available.

The 2025 Environmental Education Grants Program is open for applications until November 15. It aims to promote environmental stewardship and engage Pennsylvanians in protecting their air and water. 

Schools, colleges, nonprofit organizations, county conservation districts and businesses can apply. Priority will be given to projects focusing on clean water, climate change, and environmental justice.

A free webinar on Thursday, October 10 will provide instructions for completing the application forms. Register by Monday, September 30.

Projects with a local focus could receive up to $5,000, while regional or statewide initiatives could receive up to $30,000. Projects engaging students and teachers from at least 60 Pennsylvania counties at local, state and national levels could be eligible for up to $65,000.

Funding will be provided on a reimbursement basis. Projects must be implemented during the period July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.
