Molinaro breaks with GOP over river cleanup funds

LIBERTY, NY — U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro (R, NY-19) last month led a bipartisan effort with U.S. Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D, NJ-12) to defeat a Republican amendment to defund the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC).

Since its creation in 1961, Molinaro said, the DRBC has helped clean up and manage what was once one of the most polluted rivers in the country. The Delaware River currently supports 600,000 jobs and $20 billion in industrial activity, he said, and more than 14 million Americans rely on the Delaware for drinking water, agriculture and commercial usage.

“The Delaware River Basin Commission protects clean drinking water and improves climate resiliency, flood mitigation and wildlife protection,” he said. “I will never hesitate to vote against a measure that threatens these undertakings, and I proudly work across party lines to do so.”
