DAMASCUS, PA — The PA State Police in Honesdale reported the death of Dakota C. Kronyak, 27, of Milanville, who was driving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) when it crashed the night of Monday, June 17, in Damascus Township.
He was heading east on Plank Road when the 2008 Can-Am Bombardier he was driving went off a curve in the road. When the ATV struck a utility pole, Kronyak was ejected and hit a boulder along the roadside of the eastbound lane, Trooper Nicholas Baton reported.
A passerby located him on the roadside and contacted 911. Pennsylvania Ambulance, Tusten EMS and Beach Lake Fire Company responded to the scene.
EMS performed life-saving measures on Kronyak and called for Advanced Life Support. However, he was pronounced dead at the scene, Trooper Baton reported.
Kronyak was a 2016 graduate of Honesdale High School, where he played baseball, basketball, and football, according to his obituary: "He enjoyed trout fishing with his brothers, and his late grandfather in years gone by. An avid outdoorsman, Dakota enjoyed taking his kayak on the river."
