HONESDALE, PA — The Wayne County Arts Alliance (WCAA) will hold an online auction of member artists’ summer art project, Magical Homes for Fairies and Gnomes, to take place from Thursday, September 14 to Friday, September 29.

All summer long, the fairy and gnome homes have been seen at local businesses and organizations that sponsored the project. 

The homes have been on display throughout the county. 

Local artists donated their time and talent to design and create these pieces, using mostly natural forest materials “with an added touch of magic,” a spokesperson said.

The Summer Art Project program was organized by WCAA board members Phyllis Chekenian, Lisa Glover and Heather Spencer-Hogan and was originally inspired by WCAA member, Jody Rowe. 

If you want a fairy home of your own, there’s still time to see your favorites at the address on the WCAA website and listed with details of each piece on the auction site. There is also a map showing each location at www.waynecountyartsalliance.org.

Keep in mind that the creations are not meant to be weatherproof. 

The purchase of each artwork will help support the Wayne County Arts Alliance and its ongoing projects. 

Winning bidders will be contacted following the end date of the auction and the alliance will help coordinate pick-up at the sponsor locations. 

The WCAA is a nonprofit organization entirely governed by volunteer members of artists and persons interested in the beneficial effects of the arts. The goal is to develop “a dynamic, art-friendly atmosphere in the community, one that enhances and enriches the lives of its citizens,” per the organization.
