MONTICELLO, NY—Dr. Joe D’Abbraccio of Monticello, NY, will be president-elect of the New York State Veterinary Medical Society, which represents the more than 2,500 licensed veterinarians.
His two-year term begins January 1, 2024.
D’Abbraccio, a Sullivan County native, is a partner in a mixed animal practice in Rock Hill. His veterinary career started at age 14, when he began working as a veterinary assistant at an animal hospital in Monticello.
Following graduation from veterinary school, he moved back to New York and started working as a general practice and emergency veterinarian.
He opened his mixed animal ambulatory practice, Catskill Veterinary Services, in December 2012. In 2017 he partnered with fellow veterinarian Dr. Daniela Carbone.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. D’Abbraccio has been involved with one of the nation’s first no-kill animal shelters, Pets Alive, located in Middletown, NY. In partnership with Catskill Veterinary Services, Pets Alive and Besties Animal Rescue began offering low-cost veterinary care to communities throughout the Hudson Valley and has been able to offer fully subsidized veterinary care to families in New York City.
