HAWLEY, PA — Lukan’s Farm Resort in Hawley was recently awarded $122,760, one of eight rural Pennsylvania farms and businesses to receive federal money for solar photovoltaic systems.
The systems will convert solar energy into electricity that can be used to power machines and operations, saving the farms thousands of dollars per year.
The eight grants range from $14,851 to $141,350 and come from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) established by the Inflation Reduction Act.
“When we invest in technology that lowers operating costs for businesses, we’re investing in their long-term success,” said U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA). “This funding from the Inflation Reduction Act is not only ensuring the success of businesses in rural Pennsylvania but also reducing harmful emissions and protecting our environment for our future generations.”
