LIBERTY, NY — On September 5 2023 the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested
registered sex offender Phillip Seuffert, 34 of Liberty after an investigation concerning
the failure to register several screen names and social media profiles.
The Village of Liberty Police Department in conjunction with the
Sullivan County Probation Department initiated an investigation into Seuffert's potential
various screen names and social media profiles that were not reported nor
registered with the Division of Criminal Justice Services as required by law.
As a result of the investigation, Seuffert was arrested and charged with 4 counts of failing
to register and verify as a sex offender, class E felonies. Seuffert was then remanded to
the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of bail.
Criminal charges are merely allegations that a defendant has committed violations of the
criminal law, and as such they are not evidence of guilt. All defendants have a
presumption of innocence and are entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the
burden of the State of New York to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
