Lavapalooza celebrates seniors, raises funds

Posted

LAVA, NY — All are invited to join Lavapalooza, a retro ‘50s rockabilly carnival and picnic to benefit senior-support group Growing Older Together (GOT), from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 5 at Blue Hills Farm.

GOT, through a team of volunteers, provides support for seniors aged 60 and up in the area, so they can age in place, in the homes of their choice.

Lavapalooza will be held in a meadow under a big tent, with food, a midway with games, a fortune teller, dancing and live music of the ‘50s by Philadelphia-based band Mighty Joe Castro and the Gravaman.

There will be a raffle and auction with prizes and fine art.

Blue Hills Farm is located at 7811 Rte. 52, just outside of Narrowsburg, near the Lava Fire Station.

Tickets cost $45 and children under 10 are admitted free. Purchase tickets in advance at www.myrivertickets.com/events/Lavapalooza.
