WURTSBORO, NY — Jake “Nev” Rhein of Shohola, PA, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout on June 20 at a Hudson Valley Eagle Board of Review.

He is a former senior patrol leader and junior assistant scoutmaster of Milford Troop 1071 of the Hudson-Delaware District of the Greater Hudson Valley Council, which is chartered by the First Presbyterian Church in Milford, PA.

Previously Nev was also a member of the former Shohola Troop 76, where he also served as senior patrol leader.

For his Eagle project, Nev rehabilitated a courtyard at the Arden Hill campus of the Orange County Department of Mental Health in Goshen.

Nev recently graduated from Delaware Valley High School in Milford, where he was an honor roll student. He was also a member of the Hawthorne Caballeros Drum and Bugle Corps and is currently a member of the Spartan Drum and Bugle Corps. He will attend Pennsylvania State University at the University Park campus, where he will major in music performance.

Another local who also earned his Eagle Scout rank that day was William Jenkins of Milford. Will is currently a member of Troop 1071 of the Hudson-Delaware District of the Greater Hudson Valley Council, chartered by Milford First Presbyterian Church. He served as the Outdoor Ethics Guide for the troop and was a member of the Order of the Arrow honor society. Will is currently serving on the camp staff of Goose Pond Scout Reservation. When he returns he will enter the eighth grade at Delaware Valley Middle School, where he has been a high honors student and a member of the Junior Honor Society; a member of the band, orchestra and chorus; and played on the soccer, basketball and tennis teams.

Will is also a second-degree black belt in taekwondo and serves as an assistant instructor at his dojang.

For his Eagle project, Will constructed and erected several nursery-sized bat boxes, which are located at Lily Pond in the Delaware State Forest north of Milford.
