WURTSBORO, NY — Jackie Broder will speak on the effects of invasive species at the Mamakating Environmental Education Center (MEEC) on Saturday, August 12 at 1 p.m. MEEC is located at 762 South Rd.
She will address questions such as “How do invasives replace natives, and what happens when native species are gone?” and “What happened to the ecosystem of the northeastern U.S. when the wolf was eradicated?”
She will also look at current examples of what’s happening locally, including the spread of Japanese barberry.
This program is for all ages and is hosted by the Mamakating Library. Register at mamakatinglibrary.org/local-effects-of-invasive-species.
