THOMPSON, NY — An injured hiker in the Neversink River Unique Area was rescued on October 25 by forest rangers.
Ranger Timothy Schweider overheard a radio call for an injured hiker at 5 p.m. that day. Once he reached the hiker, a 25-year-old from New Jersey, he found that she was showing signs of low blood sugar. Schweider provided the hiker with oral glucose and some food, then helped walk her out of the woods with the help of Rock Hill firefighters. Resources were clear at 6:45 p.m.
