MONTICELLO, NY — A joyous college commencement ceremony on May 2 saw 40 SUNY Sullivan students donning robes and mortarboards to receive their associate's and bachelor's degrees at Sullivan Correctional Facility.
Hudson Link for Higher Education in Prison hosted the ceremony in collaboration with SUNY Sullivan and St. Thomas Aquinas College.
“This graduation marks a significant moment for incarcerated students at Sullivan Correctional Facility, as representatives from the classes of ‘20, ‘21, ‘22, ‘23 and ‘24 come together for the first formal ceremony since Pre-COVID” in 2019,” said Eric Adejuwon, communications associate for Hudson Link for Higher Education in Prison. “Amidst the current global pandemic and unforeseen challenges, our graduates have shown remarkable resilience and determination.”
