How to grow community health leaders

Posted

LIBERTY, NY — Sullivan 180 will host a program for people interested in working on the health of Sullivan County residents; titled “The Basics,” it will provide leader training from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19 at the Liberty United Methodist Church.

Co-led with Maternal Infant Services Network, the training will teach participants to lead early-parenting classes at libraries, schools, daycare facilities, houses of worship or other community locales.

“We have learned that 80 percent of brain growth happens by the age of three; and that young brains develop like little muscles, getting bigger and stronger with each interaction,” said Amanda Langseder, managing director at Sullivan 180. “By growing the Basics movement, we can help more children arrive at preschool with the skills they need to succeed.”

More information on The Basics can be found at www.thebasics.org.
