HAWLEY, PA — A Veterans of Foreign Wars service officer will be available to help veterans at the Hawley office of state Sen. Lisa Baker (R-20) on the first Thursday of every month.
Baker invites veterans to schedule an appointment to meet the officer at her office, located at 2512 Rte. 6, between 9 a.m. and 12 noon. To make an appointment call 570/226-5960. The next session is January 4.
Veterans can join the Pennsylvania Veterans of Foreign Wars Service Officer Network to receive free information and assistance for government benefits. This assistance could include Veterans Administration (VA) health care, compensation, pensions, education and dependent benefits.
Service officers also help surviving spouses learn about their eligibility for VA benefits.
“Our veterans sacrificed so much for us, it is our duty to make sure they enjoy the benefits they earned and deserve,” Baker said. “During challenging economic times, many veterans continue to need our assistance. This is true now more than ever.”
