LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY — Local officials, health care providers and members of the Sullivan County Health Summit Planning Committee on June 26 announced the upcoming Sullivan County Health Summit.
The aim of the summit is to mobilize resources and organizations to work collaboratively on improving health outcomes in Sullivan County. Data continues to show staggering health disparities in Sullivan that require coordinated effort to reverse. Focus areas of the Sullivan County Health Summit will include substance abuse and prevention and mental health; reducing chronic illness; and maternal and child health.
County health rankings published each year from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation show that Sullivan County ranks next to last in terms of health outcomes in New York State.
The summit is scheduled for August 8 at SUNY Sullivan in Loch Sheldrake, and is funded in part by a $5,000 foundation grant.
