Track where and when peak foliage will arrive

NORTHEAST PA — The Pocono Mountains will soon be awash in vibrant oranges, yellows and reds as the fall season approaches.

This year, the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau (PMVB) will release a new fall foliage forecast map. The map is accompanied by the fall foliage forecast, which is updated every Thursday through the end of October.

The Poconos region is possibly one of the best spots to view colorful leaves. The new forecast map will help everyone know where, when and how to experience the stunning fall views.

“Fall may be the shortest season we enjoy here in the Pocono Mountains, but it is among the most popular for visitors and those of us who call this region home,” said Chris Barrett, president/CEO of the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau (PMVB). “The PMVB is excited to share with everyone the awe-inspiring show from Mother Nature this season.”

The comprehensive fall foliage forecast map is broken up into three regions within the four-county area, and shares projected peak foliage dates as forecasted by state foresters. The northernmost color zone encompasses northern Wayne and Pike counties, while the central color zone encompasses southern Wayne, Pike and northern Monroe. The southern color zone encompasses southern Monroe County and Carbon County, including Jim Thorpe’s fall foliage.

“Fall in the Pocono Mountains is just around the corner, and there’s so much to do. Whether it’s exploring by train, playing a round on the golf course, paddling down the river or picking pumpkins, our region is proud to be a top destination for fall foliage each year,” added Barrett.

To share their adventures, visitors can tag #PoconoMtns or @PoconoTourism on Instagram to have their experiences featured on the bureau’s page.
