HANCOCK, NY — A new boat launch and public access area has opened on the lower East Branch of the Upper Delaware River.
The new Cadosia fishing access accommodates “cartop” vessels, including kayaks and canoes, and provides anglers with another wading site in the nationally renowned wild trout waters of the Upper Delaware River.
The project was funded by the federal Delaware River Basin Restoration Program with matching contributions by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the NYS Department of Transportation (DOT).
A press conference and ribbon-cutting ceremony were held at the launch on Monday, attended by Kevin Frazier, assistant director of Region 4, NYS DEC; Andy Stiles, regional director of the NYS DOT; Jeff Skelding; executive director of the Friends of the Upper Delaware River; U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro (R-NY-19); and other state and local stakeholders.
The DEC last month completed its new fishing access site in Long Eddy, NY, which now allows parking for up to seven trailered vehicles and six cars, and includes a public boat launch for non-motorized boats at the end of Ferry Street.
