LONG EDDY, NY — The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has completed its new fishing access site along the Delaware River, in the town of Fremont’s hamlet of Long Eddy, NY.
The site now allows parking for up to seven trailered vehicles and six cars, and a public boat launch for non-motorized boats at the end of Ferry Street.
The DEC says the site now provides increased access to the Delaware’s famously diverse fishery, which offers anglers the chance to catch trout, walleye, muskellunge, and certain migratory marine species.
The project was realized through the efforts of DEC’s Region 3 Bureau of Fisheries, Region 3 Division of Operations, and a private contractor.
DEC urges visitors to clean, drain, and dry their boats, trailers, and fishing gear before recreating in New York’s waters to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species. A step-by-step guide for preventing the spread can be found on the DEC’s website and YouTube channel,
