NARROWSBURG, NY — Tusten residents of all ages have a new way to meet one another—Tusten Social, a new nonprofit dedicated to building community.
Tusten Social kicked off its programing with an April 18 event for residents aged 60 and up called “Sage Sessions” (pictured), a time for gathering, socializing and receiving help with community issues.
The sessions will take place on the first and third Thursdays of the month at the Bridge Street Bakehouse in the Narrowsburg Union.
The following day, Tusten Social held an afterschool creative arts program for young people in grades seven to 12. The group partnered with Bethel Woods. Tusten Social hopes to also source future events from within Tusten’s community, said the group’s co-founder, Greta Knutsen.
The organization came about from a chance encounter, said co-founder and Tusten Town Board member Greg Triggs; longtime Tusten resident Bernie Creamer had told Triggs at a campaign event that he was meeting neighbors for the first time. This inspired Tusten Social—a structured way for people to meet one another. (Click here for Triggs’ column about Tusten Social.)
