INDIAN ORCHARD, PA —  A slow morning at Stan’s Cafe turned into a heartwarming tale of holiday generosity. Eleven local business owners came in for breakfast on December 17, and the waitresses working the morning shift sprang into action, making sure everyone was taken care of.

At the end of the meal, a woman from the table of 11 handed Laura, one of the waitstaff, a holiday card. Since regular customers often give cards, she said, “Thank you,” and went back to work. However, the business owner (who wishes to remain anonymous) encouraged her to open it right there and then.

What she saw when she looked inside the card shocked her so much, she almost fell to the floor.  It was a tip of $975 for the two waitresses working that morning from the table of local business owners!

The story doesn’t end there. Laura decided that the gift should be shared with all of the staff working with her— the prep cook, dishwasher and busboy, the whole crew! Michelle Rembish, who owns the cafe with its namesake Stan, was so proud that her staff would pass along the customer’s generosity to others.

“Kindness and generosity is alive in Honesdale this holiday season. These two incredible acts of kindness and holiday spirit absolutely warmed my heart,” Michelle said. The cafe is currently celebrating its seventh year.
