ONLINE — Research shows that spending time in a garden boasts a rich supply of physical, emotional and mental-health benefits, per Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County (CCE).

CCE horticulture program coordinator Katie Gasior will host a two-part educational series through Zoom on garden design.

The classes will take place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 8 and Thursday, February 15.

The workshop is intended to inspire residents, homeowners, artists, gardeners and garden enthusiasts who have ideas for their own gardens but need help planning.

Topics to be covered include site assessment strategies and elements of design that will enable participants to start illustrating their ideas. Additionally, participants will receive tips and strategies on garden styles that will best fit their individual accommodations and selections of plants that will thrive where they live. A question-and-answer session on the topics covered will close out each class.

There is no fee, but preregistration is required to participate. Participants can register online at www.sullivancce.org/events.

After registering, participants will receive a Zoom link to join each session by computer or phone. Those with related questions can visit www.sullivancce.org/events, can email sullivan@cornell.edu or call 845/292-6180.
