The Wayne/Pike Farm Bureau recently donated the farm-tastic book, “Polly and the Birth Day” to all public libraries and elementary schools in Wayne and Pike counties.
Written by D.H. Anderson and with beautiful illustrations by Steven Lester, the book features Polly, a retired racehorse that is very round and moves very slowly. Readers will learn that Polly is about to become a new mom.
When the time arrives, Polly gives birth to a tiny filly who is given the name Lady Thistle.
Based on a true story, this book is the first in a series about the adventures of a baby horse.
The Wayne/Pike Farm Bureau is committed to putting ag-accurate books in the hands of local children to teach them about what really happens on a farm.
Contributed by the Wayne Pike Farm Bureau.
