JEFFERSONVILLE, NY and CALLICOON, NY — Staff at the Western Sullivan Public Library (WSPL) call it a lovely way to start any day at the library.

Preschool-aged children and family members are invited to Let’s Play! at the Jeffersonville branch of the WSPL at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19.

This playgroup is designed for the more active child, aged three and under. Families can connect and children can interact with each other. The loose structure, library staff said, will allow the group to fluidly spend time socializing as well as learning.

Another opportunity for fun for children aged three to five is a more traditional storytime. Kids and library staff will read together, sing songs, learn age-old rhymes, participate in felt board-type activities, do crafts and play with friends at 10:15 a.m. on Friday, March 15 at the Delaware Free Branch.

Also at the Delaware Free Branch, kids aged seven and up can explore the world of STEAM, aka science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.

This month the group focuses on the upcoming solar eclipse. Kids will learn more about what an eclipse is with hands-on activities. Then they’ll create projects that will help them to safely enjoy the eclipse, and go home with safety glasses to witness this rare experience at home. The event takes place from 4:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. on Friday, March 22. Supplies are included.

Space for STEAM is limited.
