HAWLEY, PA — The Downtown Hawley Partnership (DHP) will hold its fall festival, the Hawley Harvest Hoedown, on Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2.

The DHP will hold the traditional activities for kids, a petting zoo, a scarecrow costume contest, live music, a fall beer crawl, wagon rides, craft vendors, a bluegrass concert, craft demonstrations and delicious local foods. But this year the group has added more.

A professional lumberjack competition will take place in Bingham Park, hosted by the DHP and the PA Professional Lumberjack Organization. Lumberjacks and lumberjills will compete and showcase their skills in standing-block, underhand-chop, log-roll and springboard events, as well as competitions with the crosscut saw, the bow saw, the chainsaw and an axe-throwing contest.

The Saturday night bluegrass musical acts will feature Mark Miklos, the Dunlap & Mabe Band and the Feinberg Brothers.

The Keystone Street Party event will include additional music by the Lost Ramblers and Uncle Jake and the 18 Wheel Gang. along with food, games and fun.

Craftspeople will demonstrate their talents. People can learn how to line dance or clog, Appalachian style. It’s a chance to not only have a good time, but to learn some new skills.

At the fall beer crawl, participants can fill a game card at participating restaurants and taverns, and receive a free Hoedown pint glass.
