ELIZABETH MOOR

It is with a heavy heart that her family shares the passing of our beloved mother Elizabeth Moor on January 16, 2024.

Elizabeth was a caring and loving person who was always willing to act when others needed help and support. She frequently hosted friends and family at her homes in Beach Lake, PA and Clifton, NJ, creating unforgettable memories for young and old.

Elizabeth was born in Romania in 1929 from ethnic German parents Anton and Theresa (Braun) Holzli. Elizabeth lost her mother at a young age and had a loving relationship with her stepmother Elizabeth Holzli. She often recalled the refugee experience, when in 1944 the family fled the advancing Russian army and moved across war-torn Europe in search of separated family members. The family was successfully reunited in Austria and later moved to Germany. The resolve she showed at that time exemplified the rest of her life.

Elizabeth emigrated to the United States from Germany in 1950 with her sister Theresa.
She married Philip Moor in 1951 and made a home for a growing family. They lived in Beach Lake, Queens, NY and Clifton, and together Philip and Elizabeth developed a successful welding business. They never stopped supporting family interests in Beach Lake and split their time between Beach Lake and Clifton.

After Philip died in 2006, Elizabeth resolutely continued to keep up the Beach Lake and Clifton houses well into the 21st century.

Elizabeth is predeceased by her parents; her sisters Paula Engel, Theresa Pravetz and brother Eugene Holzli; and is survived by her sisters Hedy Waltman and Erika Kuta; her children Philip O. Moor, Roland Moor and wife Marianne, and Lisa Moor Ottmann and husband Robert; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale followed by a repast will be held on Saturday, February 3 at 10 a.m. in her honor.

Arrangements by Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St., Honesdale.
