First annual Delaware County bicycling event

WALTON, NY — Deacon Doc Mike Freeman, an avid bicyclist, is asking serious riders to save the date for the first Century Ride along Delaware County roads following a planned 25, 50, 75 or 100-mile route for fun and fitness, to meet people and explore the back roads of the county. This is not a race.

A description of each route, including mileages and refreshment stops, will be emailed to those interested.

Participants can provide their own food; however, along the routes riders will pass through small villages with local shops, general stores and restaurants.

This is in addition to biking through magnificent farmland, encountering friendly townsfolk, riding over covered bridges and even taking a swim or dip in the local river and streams.

The ride will begin at MoltoMolto Cafe at 151 Delaware St. Pedalists will begin their journey at 7:30 a.m. The route avoids excessive climbs.

There is no charge for the event.
