E-ZPass discounts to end on river bridges

MILFORD, PA — The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced a 25 cent increase in the E-ZPass toll rate starting on Jan. 7.

That means a $1.50 toll instead of the current $1.25 rate at the commission’s eight toll briges, including at Milford and the Delaware Water Gap. The toll increase will affect cars, pickup trucks, vans, SUVs, and motorcycles with up to two axles and up to eight feet in height.

The agency’s 21-year-old E-ZPass discount, implemented to encourage commuters to use the pass, also will expire on Jan. 1. The current discount is 20 percent. The commission says E-ZPass was used in 89 percent of toll transactions at its bridges.

The rate for a Class 1 vehicle with a bumper-hitch trailer or vehicle in tow will increase to a $3.50 toll from the current $3.25 rate. Rates remain unchanged for per-axle commercial/truck rates for Class 1 vehicles with gooseneck/fifth-wheel trailers in tow.
