Dorflinger’s Wildflower Concert Series returns

WHITE MILLS, PA — Dorflinger’s Wildflower Concert Series has announced the return of its summer concert season, beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 6 in the Wildflower Amphitheatre on the grounds of the Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary.

There will be seven Saturday concerts through August 17, plus a special Wednesday show on July 24.

These concerts, performed by nationally and internationally known artists, will feature a variety of music genres, such as jazz, bluegrass, blues and tribute groups.

All concerts begin at 6 p.m.

In case of inclement weather, concerts move to the Wallenpaupack Area High School in Hawley.

Here’s the Saturday schedule for the first few weeks:

July 6—Beginnings: A Celebration of the Music of Chicago, recreating the band’s enormous songbook of contemporary hits in a family-friendly performance.

July 13—Sweet Baby James, a James Taylor tribute band. Nashville musician Bill Griese performs the songs of the legendary JT. It’s not your typical tribute band fare, and not a look-alike act.

July 20—Morgan James. The New York-based soul singer, songwriter and Broadway actress graduated from Juilliard with a classical music degree. Afterward, she performed in the original companies of five Broadway productions and then wrote and recorded her own music. Since then she’s released albums and cultivated a world of fans on YouTube with Postmodern Jukebox and on her own channel.

And on Wednesday, July 24, you can hear Green River, a Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) tribute band. The show includes CCR’s classics and songs that Creedence would turn into live jams, such as “Born on the Bayou” and “Susie Q.” The band also mixes in John Fogerty classics, including “The Old Man Down the Road” and “Centerfield.”

The audience is asked to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on, as chairs are not provided. Picnics and beverages of your choice are permitted at all outdoor concerts. Parking is free. All performers and programs are subject to change.

General admission tickets good for any concert cost $26; student tickets (ages 12 to 18) cost $13. There is no charge for children under age 12. Reduced-price tickets can be purchased until Friday, July 5, starting in quantities of four or more, and are good for admission to any concert.

Tickets can be purchased at the gate on the evening of the performance and in advance by phone, online or in person at the Dorflinger Glass Museum Gift Shop during regular open hours. Fees may apply.

The Wildflower Amphitheater is located on the grounds of the Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary on Long Ridge Road.
