Criminal sentences issued by Pike County Court

MILFORD, PA— Pike County District Attorney Raymond J. Tonkin announced the following
criminal sentences were issued by Pike County Court of Common Pleas President Judge


Gregory Chelak:
Daquan Kareem Gray, age 32, of South Fallsburg, NY, was sentenced to 18
months to 36 months in a state correctional facility and fined $500 for the crimes of
Simple Assault and Resisting Arrest. The state police encountered Gray involved in a
dispute alongside a vehicle parked on I-84 in Blooming Grove Township on October 25,
2020. In an attempt to place Gray under arrest, Gray forcefully removed the handcuffs
being placed on him causing an injury to the trooper and substantial force being
implemented to overcome his resistance.


Rashun Maurice Austion, age 47, presently housed in the Pike County Jail found
guilty at trial was sentenced to 54 months to 108 months in a state correctional facility
and fined $2,000 for the crimes of Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Possession with
Intent to Manufacture or Deliver a Controlled or Counterfeit Substance, Possession with
Intent to Manufacture or Deliver a Controlled or Counterfeit Substance and Possession
of a Controlled Substance. The state police stopped Austion on May 8, 2015, along I-84
in Greene Township for his failure to turn on his headlights. A search of the vehicle
revealed Heroin which Austion, in concert with other individuals had picked up in New
Jersey on May 7, 2015, and were heading to Pittsburgh to exchange the drugs for cash.

Craig E. Irwin, age 50, Chatham, NJ, was sentenced to 72 hours to 6 months in
the Pike County Jail, fined $1,025 and had his driver’s license suspended for 12
months for the crimes of Driving Under the Influence and Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed.
The state police were dispatched to SR 590 in Lackawaxen Township where Irwin
traveled at a high rate of speed, went off the road and hit a tree. When contact was made
with Irwin, he was observed to have bloodshot, glassy eyes with slurred and slow speech
and unable to maintain his balance. Field Sobriety Tests could not be conducted. A
blood test confirmed a blood alcohol content of .219%.


Christopher Michele, age 43, of Bellville, PA, was sentenced to 6 years to 12 years
in a state correctional facility and fined $1,500 for the crimes of Aggravated Assault
and Strangulation. The state police responded to a residence in Lackawaxen Township
on February 29, 2020, where Michele had struck an individual on the head with a board
causing serious injury and with his hands applied pressure to the neck of another
individual causing difficulty breathing.


Chad Michael Mieczkowski, age 43, of Lancaster, PA, was sentenced to 6 months
to 23 ½ months in the Pike County Jail and fined $600 for the crimes of False
Identification to Law Enforcement and Possession of a Controlled Substance. The state
police stopped a vehicle along SR 507 in Greene Township for a faulty plate light in
which Mieczkowski was a passenger in on January 7, 2023. When Mieczkowski was
asked for identification, he provided a false name and date of birth. Mieczkowski was
also found in possession of Heroin.


Brie Hatte Wheeler, age 29, of Chester MA, was sentenced to 48 hours to 6
months in the Pike County Jail, fined $500 and had her driver’s license suspended for
12 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. The state police were dispatched to I-84 in Blooming Grove Township where Wheeler was observed weaving across the highway on July 3, 2021. When standing next to the driver’s door, the trooper detected the smell of an alcoholic beverage. Wheeler was observed to have bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. Wheeler admitted to drinking prior to driving. Field Sobriety Tests indicated impairment and a breath test confirmed a blood alcohol content of .159%.


Steven Rossi, age 39, of Hawley, PA, was sentenced to 1 year of probation and a
fine of $500 for the crime of Simple Assault. The state police were dispatched to a
residence in Blooming Grove Township on December 19, 2022, where during a domestic
violence incident Rossi injured a five-year-old child by grabbing the child by the jacket
collar and throwing the child into a vehicle.


Jonathan J. Sanchez, age 36, of NY, NY, was sentenced to 18 months of
probation and a fine of $500 for the crime of Theft by Deception. The state police
investigated Sanchez who listed a hot tub for sale for $1,200 and accepted a $500
deposit from an individual and failed to deliver the hot tub to the Delaware Township
resident or refund the deposit on July 1, 2020.


Jack Wood, age 71, of Hawley, PA, was sentenced to 12 months of probation and
fined $500 for the crime of Theft. The state police responded to a residence in
Palmyra Township on March 8, 2023, where Wood was hired to paint the residence for
$1,200 based upon a signed contract dated October 9, 2022. Wood failed to paint the
home and ignored requests to return the $600 deposit.


Kayla Sinclair Sherman, age 18, of East Stroudsburg, PA, was sentenced to 2
years of probation and fined $300 for the crime of Simple Assault. A school police
officer investigated an incident at a high school in Lehman Township where Sherman hit
an individual in the face causing an injury on June 2, 2023.


Bryan William Bailo, age 22, of Dingmans Ferry, PA, was sentenced to 9 months
to 23 ½ months in the Pike County Jail, fined $800 and a driver’s license suspension of
12 months for the crimes of Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer and Driving
Under the Influence. The state police observed Bailo speeding and weaving along Milford Road in Dingman Township on February 18, 2023. The trooper activated emergency lights to stop Bailo who failed to comply.

Bailo exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Once apprehended, an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected on Bailo, and he displayed bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech. Bailo admitted drinking prior to driving and a breath test confirmed a blood alcohol content of .104%.


Heather Lee Hill, age 56, of Milford, PA, was sentenced to 180 days to 5 years in
the Pike County Jail, fined $300 and had her driver’s license suspended for 36 months
for 2 counts of the crime of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or a Controlled
Substance. The state police were dispatched to assist Milford Police responding to Hill
who was sitting in her vehicle in the middle of Route 6 in Milford Township and was
unresponsive on March 11, 2022. Field Sobriety Tests indicated impairment and a blood
test confirmed the presence of THC, Fentanyl, Nordiazepam and Temazepam in her
blood. On May 20, 2022, the state police pulled over Hill after observing her driving in
an unsafe manner along Route 6 in Milford Township. Hill was observed to have
bloodshot, watery eyes with constricted pupils and acting in a dazed manner. A consent
to search her vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia. Field Sobriety Tests indicated
impairment and a blood test confirmed the presence of Buprenorphine, Clonazepam,
Norbuprenorphine and Amino clonazepam in her blood.


Joseph W. Zenes, age 68, of Shohola, PA, was sentenced to 6 months of probation
and fined $600 for the crime of Theft and the Summary Offense of Disorderly
Conduct. An investigation by the Pike County District Attorney’s Office Criminal
Investigation Division revealed that Zenes used a Power of Attorney that had expired due
to the individual’s death to withdraw funds in the amount of $46,512.54 from a bank in
Milford Borough between April 25, 2019, and May 8, 2019, which he was not entitled to.
When detectives attempted to place Zenes under arrest, he resisted and refused warnings
to desist by the detectives. Zenes paid the money in full back to the Estate of the victim as
part of the agreement.


Bruno Domenico Dellara, age 58, of Milford, PA, was sentenced to 48 hours to 6
months in the Pike County Jail, fined $549 and had his driver’s license suspended for
12 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence and the Summary Offense of
Maximum Speed Limits. Dellara was stopped by the state police for speeding along SR
739 in Dingman Township on February 25, 2023. He was observed to have bloodshot, glassy eyes, slurring his speech with a raspy voice, and smelling of an alcoholic beverage.
Dellara admitted to drinking prior to the stop. Field Sobriety Tests were conducted
which showed impairment and a chemical breath test confirmed a blood alcohol content
of .133%.


Patrick David Scholl, age 33, of Dingmans Ferry, PA, was sentenced to 72 hours
to 6 months in the Pike County Jail and fined $1,000 for the crime of Driving Under
the Influence. The state police stopped Scholl on November 24, 2022, after observing
him weaving his vehicle across the double yellow lines of SR 739 in Delaware Township.
Scholl was observed to have bloodshot, glassy eyes and emanating the smell of an
alcoholic beverage. Scholl admitted to drinking prior to driving. Field Sobriety Tests
validated clues of impairment and a breath test confirmed a blood alcohol content of
.224%.
