Commemorating the lives of children lost in the Holocaust

LIBERTY, NY — To share history and join communities, 250 yellow daffodil bulbs will be planted on October 12 and 13 at Creekside Park. They’ll commemorate the children who perished in the Holocaust and other genocides.

Part of the Worldwide Daffodil Project, the day encourages all to reflect on the treatment of people deemed as imperfect and unworthy—and to express themselves.

The yellow daffodil has six petals and resembles the yellow star that was worn.

Organizers are trying to raise $1,000 for daffodils, all art materials and event supplies. Donations are welcome at bit.ly/3KWTuau.

Sullivan 180 awarded the Daffodil Project a $2,500 grant for benches and event necessities.

More information about the event will be forthcoming as the date gets closer. But you can learn more about the Daffodil Project at www.daffodilproject.net.
