MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, PA – A New Jersey man died on Christmas Eve in a fire that broke out at his family’s seasonal residence.
The fire followed an explosion at the home, according to a report from the Wayne County Coroner.
The victim was identified as 62-year-old Michael R. Osborne of Neptune, NJ.
The coroner, Edward Howell, was dispatched to the scene of a structure fire at 403 Stalker Road in Manchester Township shortly after 4 a.m. on Sunday. The initial fire involved an explosion that occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m., according to the coroner’s report. Howell pronounced the victim dead at 5:47 a.m. in the remnants of the living room area, then transported him to the coroner’s office.
The scene of the fatal fire is a seasonal home shared by members of the victim’s family.
This is an ongoing death investigation. An autopsy was to be conducted this week.
