Celebrating—and raising funds for—farmworkers

CORNWALL-ON-HUDSON, NY — Rural & Migrant Ministry (RMM) announces the Farmworker Celebration & Walk, on Saturday, September 23 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at the central office (the Grail), 125 Duncan Ave.
The event, co-hosted by RMM’s Youth Arts Group and Youth Economic Group, supports youth, rural women and farmworkers across New York State.
The annual Sowing Seeds of Justice lunch will celebrate the honorees RMM board member Alan Lubin, executive vice president emeritus of NYSUT and the Hispanic Federation as well as a co-leader in the Justice for Farmworkers campaign; Lisa Ponce and Danny Lang, co-founders of the Youth Economic Group; and Poet Gold, Dutchess County’s 2017 and 2018 poet laureate.
Afterward, a guided art walk will be held on the campus with views of Barbara Masterson paintings of Jamaican farmworkers, “Workers in the Field.” A political sign workshop and more will also be held.
Tickets for the lunch and program cost $100 each, while the art walk is free. You can attend either or both.
