NARROWSBURG, NY — The vibrant world of plein air painting takes center stage at the upcoming art reception and exhibit, “A Celebration of Plein Air Painting,” on Saturday, September 2 beginning at 12 noon at the Tusten-Cochecton Branch of the Western Sullivan Public Library.
The event includes prints by the world’s most famous plein air artists, as well as works by local artists at the recent Plein Air Narrowsburg and Plein Air Fort Delaware community painting parties.
Plein air painting is a technique that captures the essence of nature and light. Rooted in the 19th century, this technique became popular due to the work of renowned artists Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir, whose prints will also be on display.
“Western Sullivan Public Library is thrilled to present this exhibit, which celebrates the legacy of plein air painting and showcases the talent of contemporary local artists,” said Audra Everett, library director. “The combination of historical pieces and the fresh, modern creations makes for a truly fascinating contrast.”
