NARROWSBURG, NY — It’s a great chance for kids aged seven to 16 to share their love of the river and their love of creating or performing: rehearsals are being held for “River Stories,” part of Riverfest, on the dates below. The performance will be held at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 23 on the Riverfest Main Stage on Main Street.

Youth will create short performances inspired by original Riverfest posters, which are designed by local artists.

With the guidance of producer, director and performer Greg Triggs and middle- and high-school choreographer Leslie Hess, the kids take center stage, starring in sketches they have written and staged too.

Here’s how it works, according to an organizer. “You will be creating two short performance pieces based on the 2023 Riverfest poster submissions, chosen by you. These easy-to-manage short pieces will involve all interested parties. The goal isn’t perfection, it’s fun!”

Rehearsals will be held at Krauss Hall at the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, 37 Main St., on Tuesday, July 11 and Friday, July 13 in the afternoon before 5 p.m.; on Monday, July 17 and Thursday, July 20, times to be determined. Each session lasts 90 minutes at the most.

You can join as many of the rehearsals as you are able.

The rehearsal schedule is flexible, but all participants must be available at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 23 for the performance at Riverfest.

“River Stories” is presented by Tusten Social’s Youth Club in partnership with the Tusten Youth Commission and the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance.
