NATIONWIDE — The William G. Pomeroy Foundation is now accepting applications for the Legends & Lore® Marker Grant Program, which helps promote cultural tourism by highlighting local folklore and legends with roadside markers.
Legends & Lore marker grant applications will be accepted through Monday, October 14. Grant funding from the Pomeroy Foundation includes the full cost of a marker, pole and shipping.
Prospective applicants must apply through a 501(c)(3) organization such as a historical society; nonprofit academic institution; or a tribal nation, local, state or federal government entity.
Grant applications are accepted from New York and Pennsylvania, where there is a program partner organization.
Since the program was launched in 2015, the Pomeroy Foundation has funded more than 175 Legends & Lore markers across multiple states that recognize a range of subject matter, from folk songs and local traditions to tall tales.
To review program guidelines, marker criteria and how to apply online, visit the Pomeroy Foundation’s website at www.wgpfoundation.org/history/legends-lore/.
