MONTICELLO, NY — Bold Gold Media was recognized by the New York State Broadcasters Association with four Serving New York Awards. The annual Serving New York Awards recognize the community efforts of New York State’s broadcasters in serving the public interest..

Radio station 98.3 WSUL was recognized for the 98.3 WSUL Heart-A-Thon, which celebrated its 45th anniversary in February, and raised over $103,000 for prevention, education and treatment of heart disease in the Sullivan Catskills. To date, almost $3 million has been raised to fight heart disease locally.

WVOS-AM was recognized on the occasion of its 75th diamond anniversary in September 2022. Sullivan County’s first radio station, WVOS (1240 AM)—known as the Voice of Sullivan—began broadcasting on September 26, 1947.

Thunder 102 was recognized for the Ciliberto & Friends Saving Friends campaign in partnership with Sullivan County Public Health. The goal of this campaign was to raise awareness about the local opioid epidemic and the benefits of having people in the community trained to administer NARCAN. Over 20 businesses and organizations pledged to host a NARCAN training, and easily exceeded the 102-participant training goal.

Catskills News Talk (92.5 and 94.9 FM) was recognized for the legacy local talk show Ciliberto & Friends. This show has provided lighthearted talk and public service, as well as local news and information, for over 15 years. It has transitioned to becoming the anchor live morning show on Catskills News Talk.

“We believe that the fabric of local radio is to support our community, and we are honored to do that every day on all four of our local radio stations. It is icing on the cake, and an incredible honor to be recognized by the New York State Broadcasters Association for this work,” said Dawn Ciorciari, general manager.
