Bingo and wellness for all

LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY — Members of the community respect and look up to the volunteer Emergency Medical Responders at the Cochecton Volunteer Ambulance Corps (CVAC).  They rely on you in the event of an emergency—and they know you will be there to help them.

The next Community Health and Wellness Program will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 15 at the ambulance building. And it’s all about bingo, health and wellness.

To join us for bingo, just show up—we have everything you need to play. Bring a friend—we always have fun.

The purpose of the CVAC programs—which are held the third Thursday of every month at 6 p.m.—is to raise awareness, educate and help foster healthy heart and brain lifestyle practices and habits for life longevity, in this generation and generations to come.

By offering continuous health education, Cochecton Volunteer Ambulance Corps is taking part in a large grassroots movement— preventing  acute sickness/illnesses, chronic health conditions/diseases, and health emergencies—thus creating positive health outcomes in individuals, our community and county as a whole.

We make learning fun!

Our health and wellness events are interactive. Whether we are playing a game, learning and/or sharing healthy nutrition, exercise, heart and brain habits, or sharing our own health experiences, it is a comfortable environment in which we encourage and support one another as we try to live a healthy lifestyle.

According to the National Institute of Aging, “Engaging in regular, consistent, social interaction with friends and like minded people, keeps you mentally sharp and your brain engaged.  Additionally, learning through social support helps calm us, reducing blood pressure and stress.  It promotes healthy lifestyles; creates the opportunity for people to improve their health—adding years to your life.”

Consider taking time out from your busy schedule to take care of yourself, so you can take care of those you love.

Each of us can do our part by encouraging one another—and our community members OF ALL AGES—to join us at our monthly Health and Wellness events.

The ambulance building is located at 70 County Rd. 116.

Remember, keeping our hearts and brains healthy is key to living a long, healthy and happy life. Let’s do this together.

Hope to see you on August 15th.
