Becoming visible: the Narrowsburg Women's March

Posted

NARROWSBURG, NY — Women, children and men gathered in solidarity with the people of Texas, in protest of their newly instituted abortion laws. The demonstration was greeted with honks and cheers from cars travelling across the Narrowsburg Interstate Bridge on October 2. “It’s important to make ourselves visible about what we believe rather than just staying at home and just hoping that it will all be sorted out by Washington,” said Barbara Gogan, seemingly summing up the sentiment of the crowd of two hundred plus. After the presence on the bridge, the group walked to the Main Street deck and heard remarks by Michelle Minor Wolf, Planned Parenthood volunteer Barbara Schmitt, Cochecton Town Board candidate Kambri Crews and Congressman Antonio Delgato’s outreach director Ari Mir-Pontier.
