Become a friend of the Wayne County Library

HONESDALE, PA — Now’s the time to show your support for the library, for books and reading, for the many services the library provides county residents.

The Friends of the Library raises funds to support repairs, programs and activities.

This past year, the Friends:

Funded many adult programs, “bringing our community together to learn, grow, feel included and make new friends,” a board member said.

Funded new children’s programs and events.

Helped fund the repairs to the porch and roof at the Honesdale library.

Held many fundraisers to help support the library.

Helped fund lawn care, provided flowers for the front porch and holiday decorations, and helped pay for the renovations and new carpet on the third floor. Remember, there’s no library tax in Wayne County. The state covers a small part of the library’s expenses; the county commissioners generously allocate more. The balance of the funding—about 60 percent of all the Wayne libraries’ budgets—comes from private donations, according to waynelibraries.org.

You can make a difference, the Friends said.

You can join as a Friend ($15), a Book Lover ($30), a Library Fan ($50) or a Super Star ($100).
