WAWAYANDA, NY — On September 21, a little after 1 p.m., a bus crashed while passing through Orange County on Interstate 84. The bus carried 40 students from Farmingdale High School, headed to band camp in Greeley, PA.
The New York State Police identified the two killed in the accident as Gina Pellettiere, 43, and Beatrice Ferrari, 77. Five students remain critically injured. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said at a news conference the same day that a faulty front tire was “likely” the cause of the crash.
The New York State Police are still investigating the crash. State police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the bus before the crash to contact 845/344-5300. They also are asking the public to check if they have any dash camera videos that may have recorded the incident.
