All Things Liberty, mascot reveal draws crowd

LIBERTY, NY — Rain didn’t keep the crowds away from the Liberty Fall Festival and Liberty Central School District’s All Things Liberty event on Saturday, October 14.

Scores of families visited the district’s tents in front of the library for a variety of activities to highlight what has been happening.

At noon, with a light rain falling, people gathered near the tent, where superintendent Dr. Patrick Sullivan and community schools coordinator Stacy Feasel unveiled the district’s new Redhawks mascot logos to oohs and aahs from the crowd.

“Mrs. Feasel did an excellent job organizing this event,” Sullivan said. ”She was able to put together a variety of activities and information to show our community all we have to offer our students and families.”

Throughout the day, people stopped by the tent to spin the prize wheel for a chance to win a variety of Liberty Redhawk prizes, books and more. Many students and families took part in the scavenger hunt to find pictures of red-tailed hawks scattered throughout the festival. Those who were able to find them were awarded another spin of the wheel and a Liberty Redhawks T-shirt. Also offered were storytimes, magic shows, a show with a real red-tailed hawk, a Snack Pack collection, information about district programs and more.

“I’d like to thank everyone who volunteered their time to make this event possible,” Feasel said. “We couldn’t have done it without you.”
