A potentially harmful algae bloom at Lake Superior State Park in Bethel has cleared out, and test results from the NYS Department of Health indicate no presence in the swim area. As such, Lake Superior’s swimming and boat rentals features will once again be available on Saturday, August 13 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
However, due to staffing shortages, neither the beach nor the boat rentals will be available on Sunday, August 14 or Thursday, August 18. The park will remain open for picnicking, fishing and hiking, however. On all other dates this coming week, the beach will be open and boat rentals available from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. daily.
